Randomly ("we", "us", "our") is an anonymous chat application developed by Clemens Weckner. Our servers are located in Germany and hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

• Providing the service: Matching you with chat partners, delivering messages, displaying feed posts, and managing your profile.
• Account authentication: Verifying your identity through Google Sign-In to persist your account.
• Content moderation: Scanning feed post images for NSFW content using Google Cloud Vision API to maintain a safe environment. This applies only to public feed posts, not private chats.
• Analytics: Understanding how the app is used so we can improve it (via Firebase Analytics).
• Advertising: Displaying ads through Google AdMob to support the free service.
• Safety & enforcement: Enforcing our Terms of Service, preventing abuse, and responding to reports.

4. Third-Party Services

We integrate the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Google AdMob (Advertising)

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings.

Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage statistics, including session duration, screen views, and crash reports. This data helps us improve app stability and user experience.

Firebase Authentication (Google Sign-In)

We use Firebase Auth with Google Sign-In to authenticate your account. When you sign in, we receive your Google account identifier. We do not access your Google contacts, emails, or other Google account data.

Google Cloud Vision API

Images uploaded to the public feed are analyzed by Google Cloud Vision API for NSFW content detection. Image data is sent to Google's servers for this analysis only. Images in private chats are not scanned.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:

• With other users: Your nickname, profile photo, chat messages, and feed posts are visible to other users as part of the app's functionality.
• With third-party service providers: As described in Section 4, limited data is shared with Google services for advertising, analytics, authentication, and content moderation.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.

6. Data Retention

• Chat messages: Retained while the chat exists. Messages are deleted when a chat is deleted by either party.
• Feed posts & comments: Retained until deleted by the user or removed by moderation.
• Account data: Retained until you delete your account. Upon account deletion, your profile data, posts, and messages are permanently removed.
• Analytics data: Retained according to Firebase Analytics default retention periods (typically 14 months).
• Server logs: Retained for up to 30 days for debugging and security purposes.

7. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers located in Germany, hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• Server-side data encryption at rest
• Regular security updates and monitoring
• Access controls limiting who can access the database

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Right to restriction: Request restriction of processing of your personal data.
• Right to data portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
• Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

While our servers are in Germany, some third-party services (Google AdMob, Firebase, Google Cloud Vision) may process data in the United States or other countries. These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission.

Randomly is a free app supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob to display ads. Here is what you should know:

• AdMob may use your advertising ID and device information to serve ads.
• You may see personalized ads based on your interests, or non-personalized ads.
• You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings (Android: Settings > Google > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy > Advertising).
• Ad networks may use cookies or similar technologies to track ad performance.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify users through the app or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Randomly after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
